OUR STORY

A number of years ago, my daughter planted the seed for the creation of the Trinity Medallion when she asked me, “What is the symbol of God the Father?” At the time, I could not think of a good answer, but I asked her why she wanted to know. She responded, “I wish I had a symbol of the Trinity to wear.” I told her that the triangle and the three-leaf clover could both be considered as symbols for the Trinity.

But the question lingered in my mind, and ever so often it would surface, but to no avail! One day I was reading the Holy Scriptures and 1 John 4:8 made an impression on me: “…for God is love.” I had read this verse many, many times in my life, but that day I understood how to apply its meaning to answer my daughter’s question. When we speak of God, we are usually speaking of the Father, and the symbol for “love” is the heart. So if  “God is love”, the symbol for God the Father is the heart with the cross and the dove as one-the Trinity! It was beautiful.

It was difficult to draw what my mind’s eye could see, but I was determined. I finally managed to put the drawing on paper, but I was disappointed with it-it just looked like a heart with something lacy inside. It was not until I drew a circle around the whole thing that it jelled in my mind as the perfect symbol for the Trinity.

I took the design to a jeweler I knew. He did not actually produce custom design jewelry in his shop, so he sent it off to some jewelers in New York who had previously done work for him. Even before the first medallion was made, my son told the jeweler to go ahead and order two of them because he also wanted one for himself. Thus…the beginning of The Trinity Medallion! It is ironic that I later learned the men in New York were Jewish. Even though most Jewish people do not believe that Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah, they actually created the custom piece from my design which represents The Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

When I received the first two Trinity Medallions, my other children were very impressed and they wanted one also. Friends began to notice the medallions we wore as necklaces and asked, “Oh, what is that?” It soon became evident that the medallion was something special. Each inquiry became an occasion to witness.

Mother of 11 inspires locals with Trinity Medallion

After a few years of careful planning and work to establish the business, We belong'' was first run by Dott’s daughter Katie Massingill in Bella Vista, Arkansas. In 2021 the business was passed down from Katie to Dott’s granddaughter, Jenna Justice, who now runs the business with the help of her father, Billy Justice. We hope and pray this medallion will be a blessing for many years to come.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to His Holy Spirit
